Krav Maga — Cedar Knolls, NJ
Krav Maga Classes
Cedar Knolls, NJ
Real self-defense for adults. Not competition. Not sport. The system built to work when it actually matters — taught by a former national team competitor who left competition to teach people who've never trained.
What Krav Maga Actually Is
Krav Maga was developed for the Israeli Defense Forces. The mandate was simple: take a 19-year-old with no combat training and make them functionally capable as fast as possible. Strip out everything that doesn't work under live conditions. Keep only what does.
The result is a system built around the 8–10 attacks that actually happen most frequently: wrist grabs, collar grabs, chokes, bear hugs, headlocks, and strikes. It teaches you to respond instinctively — not to remember a sequence of steps while your adrenaline is spiking.
At SD4ALL Cedar Knolls, Gonçalo Esteves adapted this system for adults who are not soldiers — working professionals, parents, people over 50 who want capability without injury risk. The philosophy is the same. The delivery is built for real human beings with jobs and joint issues.

Left competition entirely to build SD4ALL with one goal: create a system that works for "good people becoming more capable together." His students are executives, nurses, parents, retirees, and people who've never thrown a punch in their lives.
He runs every consultation personally. He teaches the classes himself. If you train at SD4ALL, you train with the person who built the method.

Krav Maga Cedar Knolls — Common Questions
- What is Krav Maga and how is it different from other martial arts?
- Krav Maga is the self-defense system developed for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and adapted for civilians worldwide. Its purpose is singular: enable a person to neutralize a real threat and escape. It works with the body's natural reactions and focuses on the situations that data says happen most — grabs, chokes, weapon threats, escalating verbal confrontations. No uniforms. No bowing. Beginners welcome.
- Where is SD4ALL in Cedar Knolls, NJ?
- 210 Malapardis Rd, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927. That's in Morris Township, just off Route 24 exit 2A. About 5 minutes from downtown Morristown, 8–12 minutes from Madison, Chatham, and Parsippany. Free parking lot on site.
- What's the class schedule at Cedar Knolls?
- Evening classes Monday through Friday, 5:30pm–9pm. Sunday morning sessions. Different levels throughout the week — fundamentals, intermediate, advanced, women's-focused (Fridays). When you book your free trial, we'll show you which classes fit your schedule and experience level.
- Am I too old or too unfit to start Krav Maga?
- No. Our oldest active student is 74. Our program is specifically designed for adults who are not athletes — people who have never trained a day in their life, people coming back from injury, people with knee or shoulder issues. We adapt to you. The 'no experience needed' is not marketing language — it's the entire design philosophy of Krav Maga and of this program.
- How long does it take to reach a useful level of self-defense capability?
- Most students feel a real shift in confidence and body awareness within 4–6 weeks. Functional self-defense capability — meaning you have drilled a response to the most common attacks enough times that it's no longer just mental knowledge — takes about 3 months of 2x/week training. Our data shows that students who attend 3x/week and follow the at-home practice plan hit 'strong progress' at a 33% rate versus 7% for students who attend without the plan. The plan matters as much as class time.
- How much does Krav Maga at SD4ALL Cedar Knolls cost?
- Your first class is free. After that, the 28-Day Warrior Challenge is our entry-level commitment — unlimited classes for 28 days. Ongoing membership pricing is discussed in your consultation. We also offer the 6-Week Challenge and a premium mentorship program (G-Force Elite). We'll walk you through the options on your first visit — pricing and program fit are part of the consultation, not a card swipe at the door.
- Do you have classes for women specifically?
- Yes. We run dedicated women's-focused Krav Maga sessions on Fridays. We also run Women's Self-Defense Workshops (open to non-members) 3–4 times per year. Many women also train in our co-ed Krav Maga fundamentals classes. See our women's self-defense page for details.
